Director Tim Burton’s celebration of the notorious director Edward D. Wood Jr. is a deeply personal film about filmmaking and the passions that drive creation. Humorous and empathetic, Ed Wood shows the director (played by Johnny Depp) making some of his most iconic films, including Plan 9 from Outer Space, which is often listed amongst the worst films ever made. The film is bolstered by a fantastic supporting cast, including Martin Landau (who won an Oscar for his portrayal of the elderly Bela Lugosi), Sarah Jessica Parker, Patricia Arquette, Bill Murray, and Michigan’s own George “The Animal” Steele.
