One of the greatest action films of all time, Raiders of the Lost Ark was a triumph commercially and critically after Spielberg’s first stumble as a film director (1941).  Inspired by the serial films Spielberg and producer George Lucas grew up on, Raiders moves brilliantly from one set-piece to the next, following Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) as he races against the Nazis for an object of Biblical power.  Absolutely timeless, Raiders of the Lost Ark continues to set a standard for what action films should be.
